Waiting for #2
No day is ordinary anymore.
I may have said that before in my life, but, truly, each day that passes has a newfound significance. Why? Today, I'm exactly 7 days from my due date for #1, my first child. Oh, the excitement! (Of course, I've read only 5 percent of women actually deliver on their due date.)
My dear friend D was in a holding pattern last week as she waited patiently for her #2. Perhaps patient isn't the word one would use when you're a week past your due date. Been there?
So, the rush of activities began in an attempt to kick #2 into gear:
- Long hikes
- Prenatal yoga
- Acupuncture
- Dancing
- That "sure thing" balsamic salad in the Valley
This is the abbreviated list. I'm sure some of you can add to it. How about you do for my sake? Just in case.
In the end, it took an early evening gathering at our local diner and a slice of egg custard pie, ("fresh baked flaky pie crust and rich egg custard will have you daydreaming about mom's kitchen") to get #2 eager to make her way into the world.
And by lunchtime the next day, almost 12 days past D's due date, her second daughter arrived - and she is a thing of beauty. To you, #2, I dedicate "All Is Full of Love" from Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Björk, a song as precious as you.
Love,
Almost First-Time Mommy, aka, Waiting for # 1
